Denied NYC

Denied NYC is an American Southern Rock band based in New York City. Being inspired by bands such as the Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and The Outlaws, the band performs in places all around New York while emanating their Southern style.

Guitarists David Smith and Thirdy Ripell conceptualized the band in 1999. Kevin Royce now fronts the band as their main vocalist, with Brian Mimms as their drummer and Louie Dunes as the bassist.

Denied NYC has fronted for bands such as Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, and Black Sabbath while playing their gigs and creating their debut album Killa Highway: Vol. 1. Moving from their original record label, Mega Records, they rocked out their sophomore album, Beggar’s Planet, with the help of Sony Music Entertainment in April 2001. Selling over 20,000 records and reaching gold didn’t stop the band from staying true to their Southern roots.

When you see them perform, you’ll instantly recognize their Jimmy Hendrix-styled riffs and southern vibe.

Denied NYC earned its seat among the most iconic rock bands in the world by winning awards such as NU101’s guitarist of the year for David Smith in 2001 and bassist of the year for Louie Dunes in 2002.
